Voicing views: Telecom employees affiliated to BSNL Employees Union in Tirupur staging dharna to protest against proposals of disinvestment in BSNL and VRS on Friday.
Tirupur: As many as 228 employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, attached to 30 telephone exchanges in Tirupur division, went on an en masse casual leave on Friday to protest against the proposed move to implement Sam Pitroda panel's report favouring 30 percent disinvestment, among other suggestions.
Dharna
The agitating employees, including executive and non-executive cadre officials, also staged a dharna on the BSNL office premises in the city.
Disinvestment
The various BSNL employees' unions came together to state that the disinvestment of 30 percent stake of the government in the BSNL would be detrimental to both the organisation as well as the employees.
Voluntary retirement
Similarly, Pitroda panel's suggestion for downsizing the workforce by forcing one lakh employees to go on voluntary retirement was termed by the employees' unions as “anti-employee” and “anti-BSNL” moves.
“There is no need of asking the people to opt for voluntary retirement since 10,000 employees are retiring every year and no fresh recruitment taking place to fill the gaps arisen,” the staff pointed out.
Another proposal of Mr. Pitroda that came under severe criticism of the employees was the move to divide BSNL into four business units in the pretext of restructuring the organisation.
According to Pitroda panel, separate business units should be created for fixed access, mobility, enterprise and new businesses.

Tirupur: Telecom employees, affiliated to various unions, here came down heavily on various recommendations of Sam Pitroda Committee which suggested performance–driven culture in BSNL to boost its sagging market share.
To express their displeasure, the employees held an agitation in the city on Monday. BSNL Employees Union district assistant secretary Mohhamed Jaffer said that Pitroda panel's observations like reducing the size of the three lakh workforce by asking about a lakh people to take voluntary retirement, should not be implemented as it was anti-employee measure.
Similarly, the BSNL should not be allowed to be divided into four business units in the pretext of restricting the organisation.
Mr. Pitroda had suggested in his report that separate business units should be created for fixed access, mobility, enterprise and new businesses.
Differing with the views of employees, the experts opined that the reforms aired by Sam Pitroda by and large would help rejuvenate the organisation.

இந்தியாவின் மிகப்பெரிய தொலைபேசி நிறு வனமான பி.எஸ்.என்.எல்(பாரத் சஞ்சார் நிகாம் லிமிடெட்) நிறுவனம் உருவாகி பத்தாண்டுகள் நிறைவு பெறப்போகிறது. அரசுத்துறையாக இருந்த தொலைத்தொடர்புத்துறையை நிறுவன மாக்கும்போது எத்தகைய அச்சங்கள் தெரிவிக் கப்பட்டனவோ அவை தற்போது உண்மையாகி யுள்ளன. அரசின் உண்மையான நோக்கமே இதை தனியார்மயமாக்குவதுதான் என்று இடது சாரிக்கட்சிகள், ஜனநாயக சக்திகள் மற்றும் தொழிற்சங்கங்கள் அப்போதே குறிப்பிட்டன. இத்துறையை தனியார் கையில் கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று 1994 ஆம் ஆண்டில் காங்கிரஸ் கோடு போட்டது. அப்போதுதான் தனியாருக்கு சாதகமான புதிய தொலைத்தொடர்புக் கொள்கை வெளியானது. அந்தக் கோட்டில்தான் 2000 ஆவது ஆண்டில் பாஜக ரோடு போட்டது. அரசுத் துறையை நிறுவனமாக மாற்றினார்கள். பத்தாண்டு நிறைவடைவதற்குள் மூடுவிழாவிற்கான தயாரிப்பில் இறங்கிவிட்டார்கள். யாருடைய ஆலோசனையின் பேரில் கோடு போட்டார் களோ, அதே சாம் பிட்ரோடாவின் ஆலோசனை யின்பேரில்தான் மூடுவிழாவிற்கான அலங்காரங் கள் துவங்கியுள்ளன.புதிய பொருளாதாரக் கொள்கைகள் நடை முறைக்கு வந்தபிறகு பல்வேறு குழுக்களைப் போடுவதும், இனி வேறு வழியில்லை. குழுக் களின் பரிந்துரைகளை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தியே ஆக வேண்டும் என்று கூறுவதும் வாடிக்கை யாகிவிட்டது. முதலாளித்துவ நியதிப்படி, ஒரு நிறுவனத்தின் லாபத்தை அதிகரிக்கவோ அல் லது நஷ்டத்தைக் குறைக்கவோ ஊழியர்களை வீட்டுக்கு அனுப்பி விடுவார்கள். இதைத்தான் தற்போது பி.எஸ்.என்.எல். நிறு வனத்திற்கும் கூறுகிறார்கள். இதில் மற்றொரு சூட்சுமமும் அடங்கியுள்ளது. மூன்று லட்சம் ஊழியர்கள் கொண்ட நிறுவனத்தைவிட, இரண்டு லட்சம் ஊழியர்கள் கொண்ட நிறுவனத்தைக் குறைவான விலையில் தனியாருக்கு தர முடியும். விரிவாக்கத்திற்காக புதிதாக 93 கோடி இணைப்பு களைப் பெறப்போகிறோமே... அதற்கு ஆட்கள் வேண்டாமா என்று கேட்டுவிடக்கூடாதல்லவா? அந்த இணைப்புகளே வேண்டாம் என்று சாம் பிட் ரோடா குழு கூறுகிறது. மத்திய அரசு, ஆமாம்.. ஆமாம்... என்று தலையாட்டிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.நாடு விடுதலை பெற்றதிலிருந்து தொலை பேசித் துறையை வளர்த்தெடுப்பதில் அரசுத் துறைக்கு பெரும்பங்கு உண்டு. தற்போது தொழில்நுட்பம் வளர்ந்துள்ள காலத்தில் அறு வடை செய்வதற்காக மட்டும் தனியார் நிறுவனங் கள் களத்தில் குவிந்து வருகின்றன. அதை சட்ட பூர்வமாக்கும் வேலையைத்தான் சாம் பிட்ரோடா குழுப் பரிந்துரையும், அதை நடைமுறைப் படுத்தத் துடிக்கும் மத்திய அரசின் நடவடிக்கை களும் செய்கின்றன. பத்து விழுக்காடு பங்கு களை விற்பதே அரசின் திட்டம். சாம் பிட் ரோடாவோ முப்பது விழுக்காட்டை தாரை வார்த்துவிடுங்கள் என்கிறார். லாபத்தில் இயங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்த வி.எஸ். என்.எல். என்ற பொதுத்துறை நிறுவனத்தை இப் படித்தான் அழித்தார்கள். தனியார்மயமாக்கல் நட வடிக்கைகளை இதுவரை ஒன்றுபட்ட தொழி லாளர்களின் போராட்டமே தடுத்து நிறுத்தியுள்ளது. அத்தகைய பாதையில் தொழிலாளர்கள் ஒன்று திரள்கிறார்கள் என்பதை மார்ச் 5 அன்று லட் சோபலட்சம் தொழிலாளர்கள் பங்கேற்ற மறியல் காட்டியது. அந்த மறியலுக்கான காரணங்களில் பொதுத்துறைப் பங்குகளை விற்பதைக் கைவிட வேண்டும் என்ற கோரிக்கையும் ஒன்று என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது
